Did you know that when buying online you can compare prices for your items on different websites? Yes, Google has a platform that helps you compare prices on different websites quickly and easily, Google Shopping.

Google Shopping, formerly called Google Product Search, Google Products and Froogle is a service of Google invented by Craig Nevill-Manning, which allows users to search for products on shopping websites online and compare prices from different suppliers throughout the network, selecting the country where the product would be purchased.

Originally, the service listed prices by traders and monetized through advertising AdWords and other Google services. However, in May 2012, Google announced that the service (which also immediately changed the name of Google Shopping) change in late 2012 to a payment model where traders would have to pay the company to list its products in service. This would imply that the price comparisons that consumers would consult would be really based products businesses should pay for being visible.

Along with the announcement of a new platform launch in 2012, Google also announced that by the end of that year, change the service to use a pay per game, where traders would have to pay Google to list their products in service, with results influenced by the relevance and bid amounts paid. Google justified declaring that allow service “offered the best answers for people looking for products and help connect merchants with the right customers” movement.

The change was controversial; some small businesses were concerned that it would not be able to compete with larger companies who can afford a larger advertising budget. Bing Microsoft also attacked the movement in an advertising campaign known as “Scroogled”, who called Google for using “deceptive advertising practices” and suggesting that users use their competitor Bing Shopping service instead.

On the other hand, so far Google Shopping is available for online purchases from countries such as:

  • Germany
  • France
  • Japan
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Netherlands
  • Brazil
  • Australia
  • Switzerland
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • Mexico
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Sweden
  • Turkey
  • Czech Republic
  • Canada
  • India
  • Russia

In our case, as our purchases in a higher percentage come from the United States, then if we serve when comparing prices for our products.

I recommend it, enters www.google.com/shopping?hl=en and start comparing prices and be sure to buy at the best price on the net.
