Since this Monday, August 24, 2020, the American Embassy in the Dominican Republic has entrusted us with the delivery of passports with renewal of 10 years validity by mail. Domex is pleased to accomplish this task and assist you in this process. Here are the steps you must follow and the requirements to meet to use our new US citizen passport renewal service with Enviamex (Domex national shipments) from any of our branches.

Requirements for passport renewal

  1. Only passports with 10 years of issuance apply for renewal application. Example: Passport with issue date in 2010 or earlier, being this year 2020.

  2. Passport cannot be damaged (wet or have torn pages).

  3. The passport cannot be more than 5 years old. Example: does not apply if it expired in 2014 or before, being this year 2020.

  4. If the passport was stolen, lost, or does not meet these requirements, you should contact the US embassy.

If you are a US citizen, you can renew your passport by mail:

  1. If your ten-year passport is undamaged.

  2. It was issued when you were 16 years old or older.

  3. It was issued in the last 15 years.

  4. It was issued under your current name (or if your name has changed since the time your passport was issued you can present legal documentation to prove this change).


All United States citizens who wish to renew their passport must complete the collection of the following necessary documents:

1-Form DS-82: The form must be completed digitally and with the required mandatory fields: 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,18,19.

2-Two 2x2 photos: The photo must be recent (from the last three months), with a white background, and stapled in the photo box of the form.

3-Passport book to renew.

4-Copy of the first page of the passport (photo page): The photo must be displayed correctly.

5-If you have not had social security before (box 5 is empty) you must complete the form found on the embassy page or on the Domex page: passports. This form can be filled out by hand.

6-Certified check (cashier's check, bank check) of US $ 110.00 or RD $ 6,600.00:

  • Cash, credit card, or personal checks are not allowed.

  • Check in dollars or Dominican pesos payable to US Embassy Santo Domingo.

  • The check cannot be damaged (not stapled, not scratched, not wet).

  • The check must be CERTIFIED and issued by one of the following banks: Banreservas, CitiBank, Banco Popular.

7-Divorce Act or Marriage Certificate: Applies only in case of change of lastname from single to married or married to single (if applicable). In this case, please verify in field number 11 of form DS-82.


Steps to complete the process

1-All the conditions detailed above must be met in order for you to be eligible for passport renewal by mail.

2-Then, proceed with sending your request with all the required documents through Domex to the following address:

3-Finally, you must wait 3 weeks for your application to be processed and receive your new passport at the address you requested through Domex.

4-Important: in order to receive your passport you must always present the invoice to our courier at the time of delivery.
